Latest News. FRIDAY 3.09.10

MY YEAR SO FAR...
Despite a broken ankle its been a very busy year, already done 47 shows with the Earthband with more to come in Nov/Dec. I had a great summer doing festivals all over Europe, Noel Mcalla returned to the fold as Peter Cox had Go West commitments, and I have to say how lucky MMEB are to have 2 great singers! The shows with Toto were great.

Clam Castle and the lovely days festival in Wiessen in Austria. It was great to see Simon Phillips again we go back a long way,  we had a good chat reminiscing about a gigs we did at Exeter University in 1975 me with Upp and him with Chopyn with Anne Dudley. Return to Forever were headliner & we watched the great Lenny White wow!! It was great to watch Simon and Toto. I saw the whole show from the side of the stage Simon plays with such soul and makes it look so effortless,

(one of the greats I think).

Luke and the band were on great form also on the bill were the Doors, Uriah Heep, Spencer Davis. The blues and jazz festival with us and Leval 42 in Rapperswill Switzerland also a goody, & not to mention the one with Foreigner in Germany utterly fantastic. Also I had chance to see one of my all time heroes Booker T at the Jazz Cafe, it was fantastic & I was lucky enough to get to meet him and he signed my old vinyl album “Soul Dressing” he played Green Onions/Time Is Tight/Hang Em High & Melting Pot and a great version of Born Under A Bad Sign with Booker on vocals.

(I WAS A TEENAGER AGAIN!)

My kit set up in 2010

Oh did I mention I was on the show “Sings the Beatles” on BBC 4 with Jeff Beck, we played She’s A Women, its from 1974 check it out.

Punk Strut the movie was shown at the New York independent film festival and went down well. I’m looking forward to seeing it!

News 8th February 2010.

Just back from Japan where I have been working on a DVD/ALBUM with Char.
I tell ya now, It was great to work with him again and we had a wonderful time in Tokyo.

Its been a busy start to 2010. Early in Jan I recorded the sound track and appeard in "PUNK STRUT" THE MOVIE. I really enjoyed the experience & there were lots of good actors involved, more deatails as i get them.

2009 was a great year for the Earthband. We did over 60 shows in Europe. One of the hilights was playing in the fantastic city-state of Monaco.
It's great to have my mate Peter Cox of Go West in the band & we have a lot of shows lined up this year, kicking off in Stockholm on the 25th of Feb followed by Denmark,Holland, Belgium, Switzerland, France. Germany & Austria just to name a few. Please checkout the Earthband web site for details.
http://www.manfredmann.co.uk/. I have also been working on Manfreds new album which we recorded drums at Riverside studios in Bath.
Also I got chance to play on new soul rap band "No Wonder", I have to say I really enjoyed doing them both.
Oh, by the way, did anyone spot me on "Guitar Heroes" with Jeff Beck on BBC4 over the new year? It was from 1974, it was my first TV appearance. I was 20 at the time, wish I still had the hair!!! It was great to see Jeff Beck got a Grammy, Congratulations Jeff your the best!

Well thats it for now, it has been a whirlwind but lots a fun. Come back and check for new updates soon, I promise some more good times to be had.

Latest news 2nd July 2008

I have just returned from Japan and I have to say it was a great success.
We had sell out shows at Billboard Tokyo and Osaka.
We also played at Diamond Hall, Nagoya. The audience where fantastic. The seem to have a great time and listened to every note. Of course Char , Paul & Koji where amazing, you never get anything less from the guys.
Micky played 4 songs the crowd really loved him. During the shows Char and Micky traded solos, what a fantastic set of shows we had. "Slap My Hand" got number 16 on international chart and number 14 on domestic charts. We have recorded some live footage so we can do a DVD and album of " Slap My Hand " tour. All the shows were recorded. We will be going to mix it later this summer. All in all a fantastic time.

My other news is that I am very proud to have worked on the Martin Page album.
http://www.martinpage.com or http://www.myspace.com/martinpage. I played on Martins " In the House Of Stone And Light " album, and I have to say I feel it`s some of the best music I have ever played. I shared one track with Phil Collins. I played the groove Phil played the fills.

So for now, Im back on the road doing festivals in Europe this summer with the Earthband.
I hope you come along to some of the shows, I hope to see you there. Cheers Jimbo.
